This is a given, is it not? Can’t argue with that.
2	St. Louis	Justin Blackmon	WR	Oklahoma State
Bradford needs weapons, and Blackmon is the most physically talented receiver in the draft.
3	Minnesota	Matt Kalil	OT	USC
Adrian Peterson and Christian Ponder need better protection.
4	Cleveland	Robert Griffin III	QB	Baylor
If Peyton Manning is not an option, Cleveland will use this selection to move on from Colt McCoy.
5	Tampa Bay	Riley Reiff	OT	Iowa
Young stars like Josh Freeman, Mike Williams, and LeGarrette Blount need help up front.
6	Washington	Jonathan Martin	OT	Stanford
Again, Peyton Manning could be in the mix with Cleveland, Miami, and Washington. If RG3 drops here, that will be the selection, if not, the ‘Skins must settle for another need.
7	Jacksonville	Kendall Wright	WR	Baylor
The Jaguars need receiving help to allow Gabbert to grow.
8	Miami	Ryan Tannehill	QB	Texas A&M
If Manning has not or can not be signed, expect Tannehill or possible trade with Green Bay for Matt Flynn.
9	Carolina	Morris Claiborne	CB	LSU
Panthers need help on the defensive side of the ball, specifically against the pass.
10	Buffalo	Quinton Coples	DE	North Carolina
A gift falls from Carolina as Coples could easily have been their pick at #9.
11	Kansas City	David DeCastro	G	Stanford
With skill players set for the time being, the offensive line is the target here.
12	Seattle	Nick Perry	DE/OLB	USC
A quarterback could be an option here, but the Seahawks will hope for a gem in a later round. Instead it’s a Pete Carroll recruit.
13	Arizona	Cordy Glenn	OT	Georgia
Kolb needs time in the pocket.
14	Dallas	Janoris Jenkins	CB	North Alabama
Jerry Jones has always been one to take chances. Jenkins, although a superior athlete, is just that, a chance.
15	Philadelphia	Luke Kuechly	ILB	Boston College
A force to be reckoned with in the middle. The Eagles are still looking to live up to defensive expectations.
16	New York Jets	Alshon Jeffery	WR	South Carolina
Michael Floyd may have been the pick here, but strength trumps speed with this selection.
17	Cincinnati (from Oak)	Dre Kirkpatrick	CB	Alabama
With the Cowboys taking Jenkins, a talented cornerback falls to the Bengals.
18	San Diego	Devon Still	DT	Penn State
The Chargers need to improve their defensive front, and it starts with Still.
19	Chicago	Michael Floyd	WR	Notre Dame
The Bears give Jay Cutler his first viable receiving option in four years.
20	Tennessee	Cordy Glenn	OT	Georgia
Chris Johnson got on his offensive line this season, and it’ll cost a few their jobs.
21	Cincinnati	Trent Richardson	RB	Alabama
Second pick in round one and it’s a handcuff for a unreliable Cedric Benson.
22	Cleveland (from Atl)	Mohamed Sanu	WR	Rutgers
Whomever throws the ball in Cleveland this season, Josh Cribbs isn’t the answer.
23	Detroit	Courtney Upshaw	ILB	Alabama
Long fall for Upshaw, but the Lions could use some defensive playmakers.
24	Pittsburgh	Michael Brockers	DT	LSU
Sophomore leaves the NCAA, you can figure they had some good advice. The Steelers are aging up front defensively.
25	Denver	Dwayne Allen	TE	Clemson
Seems too high for a tight end, but Tebow will need outlet options.
26	Houston	Jerel Worthy	DT	Michigan State
A solid defense gets stronger. A wide receiver could go here as well, but chances are that Houston will wait.
27	New England (from NO)	Markelle Martin	FS	Oklahoma State
Big reach for Martin here, but still the best free safety on the board, and let’s face it, the Patriots need help.
28	Green Bay	Whitney Mercilus	DE	Illinois
The Packers need a pass rush from the outside. Raji takes up the middle and is often double-teamed.
29	Baltimore	Alfonzo Dennard	CB	Nebraska
The Ravens don’t have many weaknesses defensively, but if they did, it would be at cornerback.
30	San Francisco	Nick Toon	WR	Wisconsin
With one more reliable receiver, maybe the 49ers would have been playing in the Super Bowl. Toon jumps several other receivers to grab a spot on a championship contender for 2012.
31	New York Giants	Mike Adams	OT	Ohio State
More protection for Eli Manning will help keep him confident in the pocket.
32	New England	Rueben Randle	WR	LSU
Deion Branch, Wes Welker, and Chad Ochocinco aren’t getting any younger.
Round 2
33	St. Louis	Stephon Gilmore	CB	South Carolina
Offense got a boost with Blackmon, now the defense needs one.
34	Indianapolis	Lavonte David	ILB	Nebraska
More defensive force needed in the middle. Beyond the front line, the Colts have struggled.
35	Minnesota	Don’ta Hightower	ILB	Alabama
The Vikings find themselves in a “best player available” scenario here.
36	Tampa Bay	Chase Minnifield	CB	Virginia
An aging Ronde Barber must be replaced soon.
37	Cleveland	Juron Criner	WR	Arizona
Wide Receivers are a hot commodity in round one, so Minnesota is forced to reach here.

A lot of help needed on the front line. Expect more defensive line selections in the following rounds as well.

Assuming Peyton Manning did not land with the ‘Skins, they fill a need here.

A long way to fall for a top performing DT, but the Panthers pull off a steal.

If Fitzpatrick has more time, it should reduce his interception count.
42	Miami	Nate Potter	OT	Boise State
More help for a young, or at least new, quarterback.
43	Seattle	Bobby Massie	OT	Mississippi
Weak offensive front needs some help in the passing game. A quarterback could be the selection, but waiting for Matt Barkely is more in Pete Carroll’s plan.
44	Kansas City	Coby Fleener	TE	Stanford
Short passing game, and possibly an extra blocker, will be important for the Chiefs in the AFC West.
45	Dallas	Kirk Cousins	QB	Michigan State
Romo has been playing well, but the bench is weak.
46	Philadelphia	Dwight Jones	WR	North Carolina
With DeSean Jackson likely out, the Eagles need a viable replacement.
47	New York Jets	Ronnell Lewis	DE/OLB	Oklahoma
Versatile rush linebacker to offer much-needed relief for the defensive backfield.

Defensive backfield gets another boost.

Stacking up a defensive unit capable of competing in a bruising division.

If the Lions plan to stop the passing attack of the Green Bay Packers, they need help.

When Alex Smith has protection, his numbers reflect it. Jim Harbaugh knows this.

Running back situation in New York has recently lacked quickness. James is a great change-of-pace for the Giants.
