It is quite unlikely that Toronto will hold onto the first and third overall picks of Thursday’s 2013 MLS SuperDraft. Whether Toronto ends up with this selection or not, Andrew Farrell is a good way to go with the first overall pick.

Earlier Chivas USA made it relatively clear that they wanted Mikey Lopez or Carlos Alvarez with this pick. They took the mystery out of the selection and announced that they would take Alvarez, a tough playmaker that Chivas hopes to build around.
3 Toronto MLS Superdraft MLS Mock Draft MLS Player Profiles MLS Player Rankings Toronto (from Por) Walker Zimmerman D Furman
Assuming Toronto only ends up with one of the top three picks this is a prime spot for some team to move up and grab a superb talent. That superb talent will probably be Generation Adidas signee Walker Zimmerman. And if Toronto hangs onto this selection, Zimmerman is the best pure defender in this class.

This could be where we finally figure out if Eriq Zavaleta is going to be a back or a striker. In this case, he would be a striker as that is where the Revolution are looking in the first round. Jason Johnson and Deshorn Brown are quality options too if New England wants to use up their last international slot.

Vancouver has needs across the board. If they do not want to reach for a Canadian like Kyle Bekker, having Jason Johnson fall into their lap will be too much to pass up. The Jamaican striker did not blow anybody away during the MLS Combine, but he cannot slide down much further than this.

With Omar Cummings gone, Colorado could certainly be eyeing a forward with this pick. Generation Adidas signee Deshorn Brown is still on the board and that is good news for the Rapids. Brown is a speedy striker with a ton of upside.

F.C. Dallas will likely be looking for a quality midfielder who can play right away with the seventh overall pick. Dillon Powers is a Dallas native, but John Stertzer is right there with Powers when it comes to talent. It will all come down to who is higher on Dallas’ big board.

Montreal needs a striker and when all is said and done Ashton Bennett may be the best available. And Bennett has looked good at the MLS Combine so a top eight pick is not reaching too much.

This is a good value pick for the Crew. Columbus will need to find a spot on the pitch that best utilizes Dillon Powers’ skills, but if they do, Powers could be a great player in the MLS.

Kyle Bekker had a solid career at Boston College and is the type of player who is smart enough and experienced enough to help out right away. Vancouver wants to develop Canadian talent and if they do not do so with the fifth pick, they will here.

There are some quality impact players left on the board, but the Fire really need depth in the back. Eric Schoenle is certainly not a reach at this point in the draft and would be a nice fit in Chicago.
